Why did we create these posters?
We know that Water Play can be scary. We know that Water Play typically requires some changes of clothes and a bit of mopping up. We also know that Water Play has a range of benefits for children.
We know that interacting with Fire is scary. We know that interacting with Fire is risky. We also know that interacting with Fire can provide a range of learning opportunities that help children to understand the world and be safe in it.
We know that mud play is messy. We know that mud play is not always seen as valuable or necessary by families (who understandably are thinking about the washing!!). We also know that mud play is valuable and necessary, that it provides children with a range of opportunities.
We created these posters to share the benefits of this type of play with families, to put language around it. We also hope that educators will find them beneficial, using them to support their documentation of play.
